31.7 billion Euros for transport infrastructure

The European Commission has submitted a new proposition to the Parliament and Council involving the budget for new transport infrastructures within the framework of the TEN-T trans-European transport networks. And while only 8 billion Euros were previously made available for the 2007-2013 period, the Commission now intends to earmark 31.7 billion. Said El Khadraoui, transport coordinator for the socialist grouping in the Parliament, is happy with this increase but regrets that the Commission is requiring the most effort from member states alone.
