73 years of profit for DAF
|
Following a good fourth quarter, Paccar finished the year with another positive net result, the 73rd in 73 years of existence. According to CEO Mark Pigott, “this excellent result and an operational cash-flow of 1.59 billion USD enable us to invest in new products, in the efficiency of our production and in extending our geographical coverage”. This growth has in particular been seen in the opening of a new DAF factory in Brazil and by taking a stake in the capital of Tatra in Europe.
Where Europe is concerned, a market in which sales of vehicles over 15 tonnes was up 33% to 244,000 units, DAF Trucks achieved a record market share of 15.5 %, the highest in its history. The forecast of Harrie Schippers, president of DAF, is nevertheless very vague for 2012: between 210,000 and 240,000 units for the global market, which would represent a decrease of up to 14 %.
