Better outlook according to the European Freight Forwarding index
|
|
The January edition of the European Freight Forwarding Index reveals a decrease in transport volumes in December on the one hand, and slightly better prospects for March on the other. The retrospective index improves from 41 to 43, but this remains below the 50 mark, which indicates that volumes are continuing to drop. The index for the two months to come, by contrast, surpass the 50 barrier, standing at 58. This may augur a slight increase in transport volumes across all modes. This optimism is not, however, equally shared between transporters from the east of Europe (very optimistic) and those of the Benelux (whose prospective index is stagnant at below 50 points).
