Euro 6 advantage of 4 Euro-cents probable in Germany

go back print this page     send page by mail     Comments

The arrival on the market of the first Euro 6 vehicles is taking place within a framework of uncertainty where the treatment of these vehicles for the various distance-based taxes is concerned. In Germany, the manufacturers are in favour of a sharp differentiation (to create a strong pre-sales effect) but transporters are opposed to this (in order not to devalue their existing fleets). A compromise seems to have been found between the two parties (VDA for the manufacturers and BGL for the transporters) at a difference of around 4 Euro-cents per km. This would come into operation on January 1st 2013, if the German authorities adopt this proposition at their next discussion about tariffs next June.
