On September 12th the European Council adopted the amendments put forward on June 7th relative to the Eurovignette. The directive is thus now definitively adopted and the member states have two years to transpose it into national law. If they wish, states can therefore introduce new tolls which incorporate the concept of ‘external costs’ such as atmospheric or sound pollution caused by trucks.
