The Presidency of the IRU has adopted the objectives of the UN on road safety, entitled ‘A Decade of Action on Security on the Roads, 2011 – 2020’. The UN programme aims to widen the geographical coverage and application of scheduled projects in the field of road security. To achieve this objective, the IRU has committed to allocating 2 million dollars to set up necessary projects for the effective improvement of making commercial road transport safe, ‘provided that this major initiative by the profession is also supported by the other partners involved in road safety and by fund providers’.
