The downloading of digital tachograph data has long led to a heavy workload within transport companies, but a decision by the European Commission is shortly set to lighten the burden. On April 27th, the ‘Road Transport and Social Regulations’ committee approved the maximum intervals between two downloading operations (namely 28 days for the driver card and 90 days for the live memory), but it also defined that ‘speed’ data would no longer form part of the data to be downloaded.

The decision now has to be published in the Official Journal, following which 28 days will pass before it comes into effect. Certain countries alone, including , made the downloading of this file obligatory up to now.
