The call for projects for the 2010 vintage of the Marco Polo programme has attracted 101 candidates, which is 31 more than in 2009. With a budget of 64 million Euros, Marco Polo will have to make draconian choices, because the total budget for the 101 projects exceeds 234 million Euros. Projects aiming to divert transport flows to modes other than road represent half of the total number, but for the second year running an increase in projects aiming quite simply to eliminate some traffic has been observed.
