IRU revises general transport conditions

go back print this page     send page by mail     Comments

The IRU’s general conditions for international merchandise transport have been revised by its Merchandise Transport Council. The objective is to better reflect the latest economic, legal and contractual evolutions facing transporters. These new conditions in particular include clauses relative to new safety regulations resulting from the entry into force of the SAFE norms framework of the WCO, demands relative to the status of approved economic operator, and the growing use of  electronic vehicle documents and communications for submitting customs declarations. These also allow for passing on variable costs (fuel taxes and various road tolls) to the client. And the Merchandise Transport Council has approved recommendations involving help to road transporters within the framework of negotiating with insurance companies.
