New delay likely for inter-operable tolls

The European Commission ha        s warned member states that it may take measures against those which will not have opened their road toll market in terms of European Electronic Toll Systems (EETS) operators. This is supposed to be done for HGV' s by October 8th, with the objective of having inter-operable tolls for all vehicles by October 2014. To this day, the Commission has noted, no company has officially registered itself as an EETS supplier, even though around a dozen potential EETS suppliers (from amongst the current major toll payment system operators such as DKV, Shell, Eurotoll, Total and Axxès) have set up a specific professional association.
