Renault Trucks unveils a new project for urban distribution: Urban Lab 1
Renault Trucks is increasing new vehicle concepts for urban distribution. Following the Connect project, which is currently still only at the model stage, Urban 1 has emerged, a real vehicle developed in collaboration with Dutch company Gemco E-Trucks. This vehicle is based on a 16 tonne Midlum DXi5 with entirely electric transmission. This enables the loading sill to be lowered to ground level thanks to a suspension system on the front and rear wheels. Each driving wheel is powered by an independent electric motor, which is itself allied to the diesel engine. This solution enables a considerable speeding up of loading and unloading operations and also offers totally silent functioning in town, as Urban 1 can drive in 100% electric mode.
