Romania: High expectations

Transport is the only field entirely in private hands in Rumania, following the removal of the
communist regime in December 1989. In order to handle Western competition as well as to come
into line with European legislation, the international transport companies in Rumania, a country with high expectations of joining the EU in 2007, were obliged both by law and through circumstances to modernise all their fleets. This
