´Haulier of the Year´ prize awarded by the magazine Truck & Business in February 2008.
Van Moer is a family-held group of companies created in 1990. Locating the company on the left bank of the port of Antwerp was a strategic choice designed to foster a vigorous development centred on the port activities. The company´s portfolio of activities is particularly rich: national and international transport, dedicated logistical services (80,000 m2 of warehouse space), transport of containers with a strong multimodal element and, more recently, the cleaning of tanks. The road component of the activities has been steadily developing and today 74 tractors and 195 semi-trailers are operated. This growth was generated partly by taking over other transport companies, but in no way impeded the company from professionalising its organisation at every level, from the computerised management of the fleet to consumption monitoring and the very extensive training of drivers.
Best Practice
Van Moer is particularly characterised by its proactive and profitable multimodal approach. To reduce waiting times in the port of Antwerp, the company has set up its own shuttle trains between the port and its own terminal. These shuttles are also being used by other nearby hauliers.
