Volvo Trucks is to market a new driving aid system in 2013 under the name of I-See. This system will enable fuel savings of up to 5% on uneven surfaces. It works by altering gear changing according to the topography. But by contrast with other systems developed by other manufacturers, I-See does not use cartographic sources but a cartographic memory drawing from a slope sensor placed on the transmission. According to Volvo Trucks, this gives more reliable information.
